SPIF |
Spif is a windows-based utility designed by SwissPeaks aimed at the market research industry. It has been designed to help market researchers explore, interrogate and analyse data. Spif produces multi-dimensional variable and holecount reports in various formats, and sorts and de-duplicates data files with various options.
In order to process market research data, lengthy specifications usually have to be written. These can be in various different languages, depending on software used. Spif can be utilised in a variety of ways, to help and to check this process, using a simple graphical interface. Some benefits include the following:
Quick and easy import facilty for both data files and their associated (Triple-S) metadata files. Straightforward navigation / browse capability via user friendly interface.
Any definitions that the user has set up can be saved and used again at a later date. |
Create an instant holecount, either on the whole data or a subsection thereof.
Define different types of variables – currently Spif handles Single, Multiple (two types), Integer (including decimal places) and Character variables. |
Create frequencies and cross-tabulations on defined variables.
Reports created can be weighted if required. |
Reports created can include basic statistics (currently Mean, Median, Standard Deviation and Standard Error) if required.
Reports can be saved as a text file or as a comma-separated file, for import into Excel. Alternatively they can be instantly viewed on screen. |
Sort the data on one or more defined variables.
De-duplicate the data, either on the complete record or on specific variables. A report can be saved on the results, along with a de-duped file and a file with the duplicates in. |
There is a continual development program for Spif, with enhanced versions released periodically. SwissPeaks welcomes any suggestions for future releases.
