Gary has almost 17 years
experience working in market research agencies. The first 12 years were
spent at BMRB International, widely regarded as one of the best breeding
grounds for researchers in the UK. Whilst there Gary worked in the
consumer, telecommunications and media sectors using a range of
methodologies including face-to-face, telephone and postal surveys.
Towards the end of his time at BMRB he worked on projects relating to
new media and gained his first exposure to Internet research managing
banner surveys and taking his first steps into using online panels.
Between 2004 and 2006, Gary worked at Harris Interactive, recognised
global leaders in the field of online research. The majority of the
projects Gary managed at Harris were online using access panels both in
the UK and internationally. Gary’s time there provided him with a
thorough grounding in all aspects of online research including sampling,
maximising response, questionnaire design, weighting and data analysis.
Gary now works as a research consultant trading under the name Austin
Research and Training. He carries out online projects across the globe
using a range of panel partners. As Gary is not tied to any particular
company he is able to choose which panel or panels to work with for a
particular project depending on the circumstances, ensuring the best
outcome for his clients in terms of quality of response and value for
money. He can also operate in a consultative capacity advising both
agencies and end clients how best to design and carry out online
research projects as well as offering tailored training courses in
online research where clients are tutored in best practice in online
survey design, sampling and analysis.
